Pre-existing Conditions

Definitions:   Health conditions that exist prior to enrolling in or purchasing a health insurance policy. These are conditions that have been diagnosed and for which the enrollee may or may not have been receiving medical care services.

Policy:

  • Treatment of these conditions will not be covered by the plan after 9 months of enrolment
  • The enrollee will be expected to disclose this information at the time of enrolment
  • If  HMO discovers that an enrollee has deliberately refused to disclose these conditions at the time of enrolment, the HMO will deny payment for all claims arising from the treatment of these conditions.

This policy will affect but is not limited to the following conditions.

 

1)       Pregnancy

2)       Diabetes Mellitus

3)       Hypertension

4)       Ischaemic Heart disease

5)       Hyperlipidaemias

6)       Bronchial Asthma

7)       Chronic Bronchitis

8)       Emphysemas

9)       Peptic Ulcer disease

10)     Achalasia

11)     Thyrotoxicosis

12)     Tuberculosis

13)     All conditions requiring surgical intervention

14)     Management of all cancers

15)     Neurological conditions e.g. motor neurone disease, Parkinson disease e.t.c

16)     Sickle Cell disease Anaemia

17)     G6PD deficiencies

18)     Thalassamias

19)     Pernicious Anaemia

20)     Glaucoma

21)     Chronic dematological conditions

22)     All other conditions that fit the definition above
